Job description

Work alongside roaster and gain experience in the list below and as you progress, you will take on more sole responsibility for some of these aspects. You will be gaining skills during this phase by working alongside the owner and coffee roaster.

  • Certification and compliance 
    • Organic certification
  • FDA requirements for facility
    • Food hygiene 
    • GMP’s
  • Roasting process
  • Cupping/QC
  • Distribution
  • Customer Service
  • Servicing wholesale, retail, and local farmers markets
  • Servicing our online, subscription and co-opt  business lines
  • Banking and mail
  • Working with our social media provider
  • Supporting and researching new business initiatives
  • Other reasonable duties that arise from time to time 

Progression to roaster timeline

It is envisaged that you would be in an apprentice role for 12-18 months when you would graduate to become head roaster. 


Duties


Ordering stock

Unloading and storing incoming goods

Weighing out green coffee

Assisting with roasting

Blending roasted beans

Packaging and labeling roasted bags

Delivering finished product including restocking displays

Sampling with customers

Running farmers market venues

Dishwashing and general cleaning duties

Recording information as required 



Requirements


Based in the Teton Valley, ID area

Someone who is hungry and committed to starting a career in the coffee industry

Good communication skills and enjoys working with people

Can work under pressure

Can think and make decision

Flexible mindset

Prepared to the little jobs as well as the big jobs

Enjoys being physical-coffee roasting involves lots of lifting and moving!

Clean, full drivers license 

Right and ability to work in the USA 


Compensation


This will be a salaried position with the potential for a bonus related to company growth. While this will be based on a 40hr week, there must be some flexibility when these hours are worked- all hands on deck when required, so that we can kick back when the opportunities arise.This includes jointly agreeing start and finish hours at times when the fresh pow has arrived etc and we can accommodate this in the business. Typically the work will be done Monday to Friday but during the farmers markets seasons (and for one off events) it could include other arrangements.
